As part of our weekly letter learning we focused on the letter B this past week!
Footprint Bee
We started by making foot print bee’s – let me start by saying that Jules thought this was the most fantastic thing ever! We have done foot and hand print things before at Gymboree art but never at home so she thought it was great! Before I started I was sure to get all the supplies set up (including a box of wipes) so I didn’t have to leave her once her foot was painted.
Then, we painted her foot and had her step on a piece of paper – she wanted to do both feet so we did two pieces of paper..

We also used her thumb and index finger prints for the eyes. Since we had two bee’s I did one and did the steps first and then she did hers once she saw what I was doing…

Finished products…

Hot Air Balloon Worksheet
We also did a hot air balloon paper craft that I found online and printed out that involved cutting so that was all she focused on. She just recently got her first pair of kid scissors that she is allowed to use and she literally just wants to cut paper all day long!

I liked this craft because it involved the cutting out of the shapes (which I had to tape together because she cut in half!) and then matching them on the balloon! We also added some cotton balls as clouds but as you can see she got bored with that I guess…

Sensory Box
We also did a sensory box this week and I could only think of bulldozers so we got some bulldozer and other assorted machines that came in the set and made a sand sensory box.

Fair warning the sand does not stay in the box and it was messy but a few times with the vacuum and you would never know!

Butterfly Cupcakes
Last thing we did was an ATTEMPT at butterfly cupcakes. I am not a chef or have an imagination in the kitchen so it is usually a little trying for me but most times you can at least tell what we were going for ….not so much this time

I just did a search for the cupcake link to provide to you in case you want to see what they were supposed to look like and try it and saw it was a Martha Stewart idea – no wonder it didn’t look the same! HERE is what I was going for…ha!
Happy letter learning!
